Installation
How does it work?
Simply select the option to have manned installation with a time and day that is convenient to you when ordering your services online. We will then send an expert engineer to install all your services.
What are the benefits of a manned installation?
- You just need to show us where you want your services, and we'll do the rest
- Our installers are very friendly and helpful
What will you receive when you choose a manned install?
- Within two working days you will receive a Welcome Pack with your contract and confirmation of your installation date
- Our man in a van will bring the rest (that's what the vans are for!)
- Choose an installation time and day that suits you - our time slots are:
Monday - Saturday, between 8-10am, 10am-1pm and 1-6pm. Installation charges apply.
Please note: These are arrival timeslots. As a general timeframe, it takes from 30 minutes to 2 hours for a manned installation, depending on your home and the number of services you have ordered.
What should you ask yourself before choosing a manned installation?
When is it convenient for me to be at home for one of the time slots above, plus a little extra to make sure the installation can be completed.
What happens when we come to install?
We run a pencil thin cable from our network, underground through your front garden (where appropriate), to an unobtrusive box which we fix to the outside of your home.
The telephone cable will run along the outside or inside of your home whichever is the most convenient, in much the same way as a BT line and is fitted with a standard socket to fit any modern phone.
For television, the cable will also run along the outside or inside of your home whichever is the most convenient, and will be connected to a neat set top box and into your TV and video. Connection can only take place near a double power socket (or a single socket with a 2-way adaptor).

The Virgin Media Installation Service
- Arrive on the agreed date at the agreed time
- Politely explain what they are doing and why it is necessary
- Help and guide you in the use of your new services
- Treat your home with respect and consideration
- Check where you'd like the cables to be run, both inside and outside your home and look for alternative routes for the cable to be taken through the house when the obvious route appears problematic - but only after a proper survey by our Installation Supervisor.
