Phone security - Voicemail
If you have a voicemail greeting then be careful not to leave any personal information on your recording as malicious callers may use this to their advantage.
What not to say on your greeting:
- Don't include your name or phone number as this could provide a malicious caller with information they can use to call you back.
- Don't refer to the fact that you live alone, as malicious callers can target single women. Say "We can't come to the phone at the moment" rather than "I can't come to the phone".
- Don't refer to periods when you'll be away on business or on holiday, especially if you live alone.
And, remember, you can always call the Nuisance Calls Bureau on 0800 953 3333 for further help.
